now that's pretty cool. it's not every day you get to observe someone's wedding right outside your 'home'.
oh...apparently there are such things as "unity balloons"...a spin off of the unity candle i've observed before...hmmm.
just though it was neat how high they flew! my poor camera (ahem...my poor photography skills!)...if i didn't tell you those specks were the said unity balloons, you'd never know! ha!
oh yeah...the patio was all set up for a band and whatnot for the reception. the tables looked like they were decorated with mardi gras beads and candles...guess someone got creative and decided to mark that table as their own!
we didn't know the people, and were certainly not guests. nonetheless, it was a treat to watch, or observationally wedding crash, i guess you could put it. at least until i peeked out over the patio at 10pm and observed the bride shimmying around the patio to "Baby Got Back". yeesh.
but speaking of treats...warren had a hankering for rice krispy treats, having had one recently in his kid's meal pail at pegleg pete's. sure, i hadn't made them since...oh, i don't know...grade school?? but why not? surely it's not rocket science. so i got my marshmallows, butter and rice krispies and went to work.
oh. my. word. i made these when i was a KID? how?? the marshmallows took forever to melt, and ben and i had to trade off stirring because my arms got so tired. and then, it stuck to the saucepan, so was almost cooled completely by the time it even reached the rice krispies in the bowl. and THEN (as you can imagine), there was no way it would spread evenly...just clumped together in a few places and made a royal mess of the countertops and floor.
sigh. the end result.
i give up. i will never make these again. there is something to be said for purchasing these if you are truly jonesing for them! what a mess...we literally had to eat them with a fork.
but they did taste pretty good!
it's called a microwave, friend...use it instead!!! :)
