rediscovering mama's inner tomboy...

i wish i had gotten a picture of how elegant, and handsome, and dashing my child looked yesterday morning. his khakis were crisp, his shirt ironed with a crease in the sleeves, the shoes shiny... WERE...

a funeral is not the best place for a child, but some things you just have to do. in hopes of burning through some of warren's seemingly inexhaustible energy supply, we took him outside to play. i thought the flowers (weeds, if you must) might draw his attention, so off to the grassy field behind the funeral home we went. and down the hill. in search of the yellow flowers...

and this is what we found. mud. mud, mud, and more mud. poor warren sludged into it quicker than i could take two steps forward in my 3-inch satin high heels. sigh. there was nothing i could do but go rescue him. i think he was actually a bit scared, since his feet were literally stuck...the child couldn't move. i suppose we're fortunate he didn't end up face first in the mud!

so today, i'm thankful for having the foresight to pack a second pair of khaki pants in warren's bag. i'm thankful that i both used to have tomboy tendencies and have worn high heels long enough to be able to maneuver through the mud in them!

and i'm thankful for the appeasing qualities of chocolate...
