mimi and pop-pop's limas...

one of the privileges of being married to an Eakes is getting to share in the bounty of their garden...and lima beans are a long-standing family tradition. i can recall very few "special" meals that don't include home grown specimens of this legume...

the loving preparation of this dish begins in the garden of course, but for the sake of this post, we'll start with mimi's careful cleansing...and this is where i come to my point...the beans have to cook for at least an hour, if not longer...hmmm. that didn't coincide with warren's plans once he spotted what his mimi was doing!

so mama put a few in a cup and hit 'HIGH' on the microwave, in hopes of getting them into a semi-edible state...quickly!

i won't attest to how good (or not) they tasted after this abbreviated method, but warren ate every single one off his plate! it's in the genes, i guess!
