a morning under the table

when the beach is completely shrouded in fog - as in an all day (2 day, to be accurate), blinding white and thick fog - you find other things to amuse yourself with.

for warren, having train-setted and lightning mcqueen'd as much as he could take it, this meant heading out on the patio to play...under the table?!

from my vantage point at the kitchen sink, i watched the little stinker search for interesting things. i'm not kidding when i say he must have spent 45 minutes doing this! the most interesting thing seemed to be a round hole in the center of the table (intended for an umbrella, i'm sure).

here he is trying to figure out what mischief he can stir up...

and here, he moved to table-top access, so he could pry the silver disk up that was covering the hole...

and then he just started fiddling around under the chairs: investigating grout, chair legs, that popsicle stick we forgot to throw away...

as a parent, it was fascinating to watch his mind work. i have absolutely NO clue what he was thinking about, but he was thoroughly engrossed. oh, to be a shadow on the wall inside those machinations!!
