pickwick vacation

!!! Vacation !!!

We headed up to Tom's cabin at Pickwick after Samantha's birthday party, and had a very good time. The weather was unseasonably cool (hallelujah!) at the start of the week, and the lake was delightfully uninhabited. We ate some good "cabin" meals (fried catfish, steaks, french fries, waffles & pancakes every morning), spend lots of time on the beach and the boat, and just spent a week with the three of us together. oh yeah...and we played with LOTS of bubbles!!!
dinner on the upper deck...Warren apparently has a nurturing instinct...had to make sure Daddy had enough to eat!Sunrise. Yes, I'll admit that I would have much preferred to be asleep at this time of day, but will at the same time be grateful for getting to experience the perfect peace and beauty of this time. Well, I suppose "peace" is a relative term, considering the constant stream of Warren-chatter...oh well. My life may no longer contain quiet and lazy mornings reading with a pot of coffee, but I'm not complaining! The natives...but i must say, that's the coolest looking bug i've ever seen!Self-Portrait...Daddy spent a few afternoons over at Shiloh playing golf, so Warren and I were left to our own devices...scary what we get up to, huh?The magic cup...we only brought so many sippy cups, and found this cup in the cabinets. It has a squiggly straw for a handle, and warren just thought it was the most amazing thing EVER!

Mornings on the beach...

Mama's Sandbug...before Warren-After Warren!A boy and his dog...

The grill had been on its last legs for quite some time, and a new one had finally been purchased...but not put together! Being the family grill master (dubious title, I assure you), I wanted to accomplish this task all by myself. which, for the most part, I did! Warren DID insist on reading the instructions to me, though...

Old grill:

New grill:

Kayaking with daddy...the lake was so deliciously empty all week long (until Saturday, at least)...perfect for kayaking. these two actually paddled a good little ways out and around, until Warren threw too much of a fit about not being able to do ALL the paddling himself!

Sporting the windswept do...and we mustn't forget the boat! OR the boatcoat (Warren's special term for his life jacket)!he had LOTS of fun driving the boat...seriously. the neighbors must have thought we were real boozers the way we loop-de-looped our way through the YellowCreek area! Warren just thought the best place to be was driving...can't say that I blame him!our little beach bum...

and the best part about being a little boy at the lake? oh yes, you guessed it...-peeing off the porch. ah, the joys of nature...!
