abby? abby?

you know they've got it bad when they call out their name upon awakening...

last week warren and i travelled to nashville to visit my friend sarah and her two little girls, abby and maggie. abby is only about 6 weeks older than warren, and maggie is right at 3months old. we arrived in time for lunch on tuesday (and in time for naps!), and thoroughly enjoyed watching the little ones warm up to each other. abby had to stare warren and me down some before she decided we were ok, but pretty soon she and warren were tussling over toys...all was well in their world.

the next morning was warren's epiphany...first words out of his mouth: "abby? abby? mama, up. mama get up. abby?" muffled groan, snort, snarl, and i did wake up, albeit reluctantly. sweet abby was still asleep (lucky girl!), but not for too long! they played upstairs, downstairs, on the stairs, outside, inside...and even watched a few elmo videos...what a treat! with warren thus entertained by his newest friend, i was left to visit with sarah and cuddle with baby maggie...there is just nothing like cuddling a sleeping infant. balm for the soul, i tell you! here's a picture of sweet maggie, asleep on her mama's shoulder:

there were lots of lessons in sharing and whatnot (with two almost 2-year olds, what did you expect??), but all in all i was a phenomenal visit. there are some fantastic pictures of abby and warren holding hands, and i think we even got a shot of them kissing on the couch, but those will have to wait for a later post (two mamas, two cameras...). can't wait to share! we couldn't have had a better time, and are so looking forward to the next eakes-riebau reunion!

oh yeah...warren is still asking for "abby? abby?" at least once a day, if not more. of course, he kissed a picture of laurie this morning and demands "kate! kate!" every time we get in the car, too...oh dear me. my little romeo...

here are those afore-mentioned pics...including the slightly glazed-over shot that happens when elmo has performed one too many songs!

sweet friends...
kisses!...
the "glazing" effect i mentioned...
