i should have known.
as i mentioned in my last post, warren and ben have been playing host to the sniffly-snuffly-coughy bug - but with no fever, no down time, no real damages done. until yesterday. poor warren woke up crying several times in the night, weepily stating "mommy my mouth! my mouth hurts!". translation: "i have a sore throat and i want you to make it go away...right now!". and with a 102+ temperature at 9am the next morning, it was finally time to locate a physicians office (you know, from that handy list i never created? ha!).
anyhoo, after 3 hours waiting in urgent care (thank you, powers that be, for the creation of the oh-so-portable iPad and also for the foresight and wisdom of my spouse to load 2 seasons worth of Scooby-Doo episodes on it!), a trip across town to the pharmacy for antibiotics (and food for my rumbling belly), we came home and set up shop on the couch. what is it about a pallet on the couch when you're sick? is it just memories of when we were children, sick ourselves and on the couch in the den? or perhaps its the easy accessibility to televised entertainment! sigh. i yearn for the day my child wants to bury himself on the couch with a good book...someone tell me it's coming!!
all that said, it's just a cold and sore throat - no strep, hallelujah. and his temp is slightly down from roasting now, only barely over 100. so we are making a quick recovery. he even ate 2 scrambled eggs this morning and some strawberries, so we're definitely on the up and up (last night the child even turned down popsicles!). and i, (hold your breath) am still exempt from any illness...unless you count a profound case of condo-bound stir-craziness!
at least we now have that "list" of physicians if we find ourselves in need again. here's to not having to use it!
