no rest for the weary

ben pulled a LONG one over the past 48 hours (4:30am-8:30pm yesterday, only to go back out at 10:30pm...to return around 2:30am...and out again 2 hours later at 4:30am). he got home around 5:30 this afternoon, and all but headed straight to bed. of course, his phone has been ringing off the hook (which he REFUSES to put on silent, God bless him), so it's been a very interrupted sleep thus far...

but not for lack of effort on warren's part!!


see, for those of you who don't know, warren has a very sacred "blankie". it has one corner that is worn as soft as suede and all stretched out and shaped just right. he does NOT sleep without it, unless under great duress. you DO not threaten the blankie. in fact, to say you're going to take blankie away works as a better disciplinary action than a spanking! all this to say, warren does not easily share blankie. he'll occasionally offer to share a corner (not the sacred, warren worn corner), but never blankie itself. until tonight!

warren obviously noticed daddy needed a little extra TLC. he also shared his Thomas pillow. he tried to share all his engines, but, those engines not being of the pillow variety, i managed to talk him out of that.

couldn't talk him out of all the bedtime story books.

and couldn't talk him out of joining his daddy, either!




needless to say, ben didn't get a whole lot of sleep. after this last phone call, he's back on the couch eating crackers and watching berenstain bears. i imagine he'll be dead to the world soon, at which time we can only HOPE that warren decides his help isn't quite so needed to get daddy to sleep.

although, if truth be told, ben probably is quite happy for the "help".
