after my sister and her crew left, and warren sacked out for his 3 hour recovery nap, ben decided he COULD indeed take the afternoon off. i'm sure his level of "tired" had something to do with it, but whatever. I'll take it!

so ben also took a nap. i think i watched a movie in bed next to him...can't recall. but that doesn't matter. and then (gasp. shock. what?) we all went out to eat as a family!

there is this fun place down the road from us called Pegleg Pete's. i'm assuming its a Pensacola institution judging by the crowds and the general ambiance of the place. it's actually right across the street from the very 1st condo we were in, so i had had steamed shrimp from there before (delicious), and ben (of course) had eaten there repeatedly. they have it all...steamed crab legs, shrimp, grilled specialties, broiled specialties, even pastas...and (da-dum...da-dum...da-dum da-dum da-dum) FRIED specialties.

they also have these really cool kids meals. they come with an eye patch an everything! and you get to take the bucket they are served in home with you (to play with in the sand, you know!). Warren tasted his very first Sprite ever, and thoroughly enjoyed it.Even favored it over milk, which is shocking for this little guy.

ben's phone rang pretty consistently...(and if you look closely, you'll see warren eating dessert first. darn them putting the rice krispy treat right alongside the french fries!!)but it didn't stop us from enjoying ourselves. of course, i am beginning to worry a bit about the phone etiquette (or lack of) warren is learning from his daddy. hmmm. note to self: teach that we DO NOT talk on the phone at the dinner table (unless you're daddy, that is).

ben ordered a beautiful bucket of steamed crab legs, and they were tremendous. and there were actually a ton of them. probably the healthiest thing on the menu, if i had to guess. and you want to know what I ordered? me, the one who is fussing about weight gain and blood sugar fluctuation and you name it? i indulged. oh, did i indulge. i couldn't make up my poor restricted and diet-starved mind, so i got the Cajun Sampler. fried shrimp. fried oysters. 2 soft-shell crabs. fried catfish. and of course, french fries. anyone who eats half of this plate will surely have exceeded their daily allotment of saturated fat, sodium and calories, and i ate 3/4 of it! i ate even past being satisfied...what IS IT about forbidden foods???

and that number in the title of this post? oh yes. that was my blood sugar Monday morning.

sigh. will i never learn?

...hee hee. but it was SO worth it!! (just say a prayer that next time it will be ME who orders the steamed plate!)
