it's officially summer

as if the heat didn't dictate that already! or that school is no longer in session...or that people are on vacation...or that...but i digress.




WATERMELON! it's here. it's sweet. and juicy. and very very sticky, messy, dribbly.

that's why warren and i decided to cut it outside today. we took our lunch plates, opened the tailgate of my vehicle and had a picnic in the drive. the yard was a bit muddy, so forgive my peculiar choice of pavement over grass - nonetheless, we had a good time.

i even gave warren a spoon to eat to his heart's content (after I had cut most of it out, that is!).



ah, the joys of summer.

(yes...you may all feel free to remind me i said that when in a couple of weeks i am complaining ceaselessy about the humidity, the ensuing sweatiness of my person, the inability to breathe and the claim that i'm moving to new hampshire due to the oppressive nature of our climate!!!)
