disrupting nature...

ben walked in the kitchen this evening with a stricken look on his face. he had been working on the pool, repairing a couple of leaks we've discovered. oh no, i thought. you found another leak (beyond the two you're already working on). the armadillo horde attacked you (more on that later). you saw a snake. a nest of brown recluses. my imagination was working overdrive on all the horrible scenarios one could encounter outside...in, on, and under our deck.

thankfully, he brought me outside and showed me this.

and then explained that when he reached for his drill bits (oh yes, we had to cut through the deck to get to one of those aforementioned leaks), he noticed his kit was awfully dirty. thought to himself "my gosh-what has Jana been doing to my tool kit?".

then the bird flew out!

and he saw the egg. and came to get me. where i went outside to look, and discovered not one, but 5 eggs!!

long story short, we imagined some poor forlorn mother bird perched in our yard, watching us in terror as we peered at her helpless, precious egg-bound babies, and decided we could make do with drill bits from else where. we hung the kit back up in its spot in the garage, and are hoping the mother bird will come back to incubate her babies.

will keep you posted!!
